Public and Stakeholder Engagement, a national Check-Off funded program, is excited to announce the launch of the Guardians of the Grasslands Game, based on the award-winning documentary Guardians of the Grasslands. This online, educational grazing simulation aims to teach students about the ecosystem services that are provided by raising cattle on grasslands including wildlife habitat, biodiversity and carbon sequestration, increasing their understanding of the benefits of beef production. Total play time is estimated between 15 – 20 minutes.

How to play:

The game can be easily accessed by visiting the website, www.gotggame.ca. Teachers and educators register and receive a code to track student play and pull detailed reports. Students can either play online – via computer, tablet or phone – or download directly to play offline. Please note that Safari and Internet Explorer browsers are not supported. The game is also available for download on various platforms (the App Store, Google Play and Amazon).

This first version of the game is specific to Alberta and has been connected to curriculum outcomes for students in grades 7 – 10. Additional versions of the game that are specific to other provinces will be released in the coming months.
